History

OceanFirst has grown from a small community bank to a regional bank operating throughout New Jersey, metropolitan Philadelphia and metropolitan New York City.  OceanFirst is one of the oldest community-based financial institutions headquartered in New Jersey.

OceanFirst was established in 1902 as the Point Pleasant Building and Loan Association.  In 1996 OceanFirst completed our initial public offering (IPO) creating OceanFirst Financial Corp. (NASDAQ:OCFC). OceanFirst has grown organically and through several whole bank acquisitions.  Our team continues to build relationships with families and businesses in the communities we serve.

At the time of our IPO, OceanFirst became the first bank in the country to establish a foundation in conjunction with the conversion to stock ownership.  OceanFirst Foundation celebrates more than 20 years of awarding grants to nonprofit organizations helping our neighbors in the local communities we serve.  Giving back to the community is an integral part of who we are. The sole mission of OceanFirst Foundation is to provide financial resources to charities that support housing, youth development and education; improving the quality of life, health and wellness, and the Arts. Through the OceanFirst Foundation, millions of dollars have been granted to nonprofits throughout the Bank’s market area.

Summer Internship Program

Take the first step in your career journey at OceanFirst Bank! Gain valuable work experience and make a real impact in our organization through meaningful projects, working alongside experts in specific financial and corporate disciplines.

Through this program, undergraduate students (rising seniors) looking to make a meaningful work contribution within their preferred field of study can apply for paid, part-time internship opportunities available in various departments at our Red Bank, NJ headquarters.

EDGE Development Program

The EDGE development program is a full-time, direct-position placement program for college graduates and early career professionals. The EDGE program is designed to help you build the skills that you need to be successful in your role. This program offers a variety of exciting career paths that will provide an opportunity to flourish in an inclusive environment as you learn the ins and outs of the Banking industry and build leadership and technical skills.
