We are looking for passionate and experienced students to join the Canon USA team for our 2023 Canon Insights Summer Internship Program, a paid 10-week experience based in our Melville, New York Headquarters. The program will be held from June 5, 2023 - August 11, 2023.
What You’ll Do:
- You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience by participating in significant work projects that help you learn, develop business skills, and provide a meaningful contribution to Canon's business and goals.
- You’ll come into the office 4 out of 5 days a week (Monday – Thursday) on a full-time (9 AM – 5 PM) schedule based on a 35-hour work week. Fridays are reserved for off-site activities or remote work.
- You will be exposed to world-class teams and our business, marketing, and strategy initiatives through training, meetings, presentations, and other activities.
- You’ll gain marketable skills and knowledge that you’ll need in transitioning into the workforce.
Who You Are:
- A current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree as of the Summer 2023, enrolled in a related major in the department of interest.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Team player and work independently.

The 2023 Canon Insights Summer Internship – Public Relations & Social Media Intern would rotate between Public Relations and Social Media, responsibilities would include but not limited to:
Public Relations:
- Participate in media tracking and curating interesting content for different platforms for all the Canon business units.
- Identify new media outlets, contacts, platforms to enable Public Relations to build media lists.
- Craft pitches – edit and review press releases, media alerts, etc.
Social Media:
- Collaborate with Social Media Operations team and B2B stakeholders on sourcing and development for social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Canon Community and others as needed.
- Bolster the social media department’s ability to meet content and strategy demand by working with corporate and business group contacts to identify and/or adapt existing and net-new content to be social-media ready.
- Provide additional checks and balances with the department by entering and scheduling content into our SMMS tool, Sprout.
- Ideate, curate and execute content for the Insights Program, assist in analytics prevalent to social media campaigns running within the department, and brainstorm sessions on trending topic ideas.
- Attend standing public relations and social media meetings (virtual and in-person) with extended social and Public Relations team as well as stakeholders.
A current student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree as of the Summer 2023, enrolled in a related major in the department of interest. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Team player and work independently.
- Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related major preferred.
- Critical thinking and dynamic mindset while performing media monitoring for the team a plus.
- Proactive learner a plus.
- Excellent writing and communications skills.
