ABS Deputy Editor

About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.

Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this.

9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.

Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

What you’ll work on

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

  • Helping to drive editorial content for the new asset-based finance vertical, ensuring scoop-driven agenda-setting coverage.

  • Assisting in managing the ABF team, supporting the development of less experienced journalists, helping bring out skills and capabilities

  • Meeting the ABF market, developing an independent source base and ensuring 9fin stays close to the latest trends and development.

  • Helping to develop the broader ABF product, assisting with scoping, product design, inputting into features and upgrades.

  • Moderating panel sessions, webinars, podcasts and representing 9fin in public-facing forums

About You:

If you are a financial journalist with editing experience, an interest in complex credit and markets, and a track record of scoops and polished copy, we are interested in hearing from you:

A note from the hiring manager

Asset-based finance is an exciting new vertical to launch at 9fin, an asset class that the likes of KKR are calling a $7trn opportunity. It stands right at the front of the biggest trend in finance, the retreat of the banks from the lending products where they were once dominant, and it touches on everything from home lending to stadium finance to music to the circular economy, underpinning the world in which we live. This role will build on existing connections 9fin has with the ABF ecosystem, and will aim to disrupt a sleepy and complacent content and data market dominated by legacy players, with a product suited to today’s market. This role is right at the heart of the build-out and will be essential in making this fly!
