The Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College seeks experienced teachers with expertise in business and technical writing, advanced public speaking, and business communication to join the adjunct faculty pool for in-person sections of the oral communication courses (Communication 2020 and Communication 3021).
Openings are anticipated beginning Fall 2023, with the possibility of subsequent appointments in later semesters contingent on teaching effectiveness, department needs, and enrollment. Well-qualified and flexible applicants may be eligible for a teaching load of up to 3 courses (9 credit hours) in Fall and Spring semesters. Summer and Winter teaching is often available—contingent on demand and faculty rotation. Application to this position does not guarantee any offer or appointment. Applicants will be evaluated for being added to the pool of available adjunct faculty should there be a need to hiring. Faculty are typically hired from the pool at the title of Adjunct Lecturer.
Baruch College, located in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is a senior college in the City University of New York, with roughly 16,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students enrolled in three schools: the Lawrence Zicklin School of Business; the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences; and the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. The Department of Communication Studies, located in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, offers two undergraduate majors (one in Corporate Communication and one in Communication Studies), an undergraduate minor in Communication Studies, and a Master’s degree in Corporate Communication.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
B.A. in communication studies, rhetoric and composition, or a related field is required for this position. M.A or PhD in communication studies, rhetoric and composition, or a related field strongly preferred. Applicants with a Masters in an unrelated field, college level teaching experience, and extensive professional experience in business contexts may be considered.
Other Qualifications:
College-level classroom teaching experience or comparable training/development experience. Experience teaching courses in business writing, technical writing, and advanced public speaking strongly preferred.
Candidates must be able to follow a shared curriculum carefully and accurately and must be available to teach in-person sections on Baruch’s campus in Grammercy Park.
COMPENSATION
$91.67/hr
