Job Description

AECOM Tishman has an immediate need for a General Superintendent for our new, out of the ground, large-scale datacenter in Northern Virginia.

  • Accountable and overall responsibility for on-site administrative and technical management for a wide range of construction projects. 
  • Leads, directs and manages the entire direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi-discipline construction project. 
  • Primary Liaison with client for day-to-day activities and long-term operations. 
  • Communicates and directs through other superintendents' changes or modification of jobsite activities within assigned area of operations. 
  • Accountable for compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards. 
  • Primary interface and engagement with Project Executive and manager group to coordinate efforts.

AECOM Tishman’s staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. In total, AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet – including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement:

  • BA/BS Engineering, Construction Management or similar curriculum and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Superintendent experience in ground up construction. 

Preferred Requirements:  

  • 10+ years’ experience with site clearing, site work & ground up construction
  • Excellent planning/communication/writing/priority management skills
  • Oversee all daily operations, including all construction activity and management of sub-contractor and third party vendors
  • Assist with creation and updating of master project schedule and manage to same by ensuring timely completion by all subcontractors and vendors
  • Ensure jobsite safety by maintaining & strictly enforcing corporate/industry/OSHA safety policies & standards
  • Manage & coordinate onsite workforces and track productivity
  • Manage/plan/guide/mentor CM’s project team of other superintendents and assistants
  • Prepare and manage jobsite documentation including daily reports, incident/injury reports, project photo’s, progress logs, delivery schedules, safety/toolbox talks and other documentation
  • Communicate and plan regularly with all stakeholders, including executive management, project managers, client, architects, engineers, etc.
  • Maintain/manage/encourage jobsite labor harmony
  • Maintain/manage/track permitting process with expeditors, locals AHJ’s and local community
