The Opportunity: Security Guard 2
We are looking for full-time Security Guard 2's to work at our
Vancouver site in Region 6. This
newly established Security Guard position will provide security and protection for staff and youth both indoors and outdoors at this DCYF youth site.
Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week from Wednesday to Saturday - 2:00 pm to 12:30 am.
Some of what you'll get to do:-
Provide protection and security to DCYF staff and residents of the youth site.

Recognize and assess problem situations, and intervene to maintain protection and security for both staff and youth.

Remain calm and provide leadership and direct response during a crisis situation; verbally de-escalate youth in crisis and request assistance from Law Enforcement when needed.

Promote a safe environment, enforce rules and policies of the site and grounds, and enforce rules of behavior.

Conduct handsfree youth security checks, as well as indoors and around the site.

Monitor and control access to hallway and youth rooms.

Attend After hours and office team meetings.

Assist with maintaining daily facility cleanliness.

Clearly relay breaches of security, behavioral incidents, and youth behavior to Supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Security Guard.
OR
High school graduation (or GED)
AND 1 year of experience in areas of work such as security guard, correctional officer or store investigations, or, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work.
OR
A certificate of completion in a state-certified basic law enforcement training program or completion of a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for the required experience.
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:-
Incumbent must hold a valid driver's license when operating a state or privately-owned vehicle on official state business, and must also comply with Washington State's liability laws when operating a privately-owned vehicle on official state business.

Incumbent must successfully complete Right Response Training within six months of initial appointment.

Incumbent must pass a Washington State criminal records background check prior to initial appointment.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:-
Previously demonstrated work with youth.

Previously demonstrated calm demeanor and excellent de-escalation skills.

Previously demonstrated discretion and strong communication skills.
