Job Title: Telecommunications Specialist I

Location: 2001 Brainard Rd. Fort Huachuca, Arizona 85613

Clearance Level: Active DoD - Secret

· Requires at least one Certification in area of specialization or be able to obtain specified certification within 6 months of contract start


SUMMARY

Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Test Evaluation and Certification II Services (TEC II) contract provides technical solutions for the DOD in support of Test and Evaluation (T&E) services and T&E enabling services. JITC’s service requirements are categorized in the following areas: T&E Performance Requirements, T&E Capability Management Requirements, T&E Capability Requirements, and Overarching Contract and Task Order (TO) Requirements. TEC Services are provided to DoD Combatant Commanders/Services/Agencies, federal and state agencies, coalition partners, and commercial entities to aid in the design, development, acquisition, integration, deployment, operational use, and sustainment of new and enhanced IT/NSS capabilities.

FHU Lab Support team is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining, all fiber optic/copper data, and voice communications infrastructure components. The JITC Fort Huachuca compound currently encompasses labs and personnel space located in 15 facilities including one under construction.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Not limited to but includes: utilizing gopher poles, fish rods and pull strings to install/extend CAT 6, and fiber optic cable from one location, to an endpoint within the same building. Cable may be extended overhead, or beneath the floor. May also include termination of CAT 6 and fiber optic cables using connectors and methods in accordance with current industry standards, and the installation of patch panel interfaces and connection of cables to these interfaces via punch-down. Includes testing of all data and voice communication connections. Cable management skill and experience is a plus.


QUALIFICATIONS

· Requires at least one Certification in area of specialization or be able to obtain specified certification within 6 months of contract start


Education, Background, and Years of Experience

· Requires and Associate's degree or a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years' experience; or at least 4 years of experience is required. Additional certifications (other than those required for the position) in the area of specialization may be substituted for experience or education but varies by certification. The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.

· Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the related IT field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. performs a variety of tasks. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a project leader, supervisor, or manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS


Environmental Conditions

· Work is generally physical in nature, and requires standing, climbing, kneeling and walking most of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. There are some hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by moved panels, hanging wires, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within a completed new building construction.

Strength Demands

· Medium – 50 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
