Director of Community and Family Support Services

The Director of Community and Family Support Services with the support of the VP, Community and Family Support Services is responsible for the administrative supervision, management and development of the Community and Vocational Service programs, while ensuring compliance with OPWDD, ACCES-VR, DOL and OSHA regulations.  This position requires travel to remote program sites on a regular basis to provide oversight and support.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversees employee performance evaluations management, and problem resolution.
  • Assists with interviews, hiring, training, timesheets, and retention efforts.
  • Ensures that all forms, reports, schedules, and other records are created, maintained, and submitted by the requirements and procedures established by the agency.
  • Makes decisions regarding personnel counseling provided to employees. In consultation with Vice President of Community and Family Support Services, makes decisions regarding terminations of employment.
  • Participates in Incident Review Committee, Human Rights Committee and other committees as assigned.
  • Responsible to provide oversight, coordination, leadership and direction to the daily operation of family reimbursement services, community habilitation program, respite and vocational services programs.
  • Researches new regulations and implements in-service training programs to ensure compliance.
  • Attends training programs and OPWDD ADM meetings.
  • Ensures ongoing and continued training of employees to develop, maintain and increase training skills.
  • Ensures the provision of quality services to individuals supported and the provision of a positive work environment for program employees.
  • Liaison with day service providers, school districts, community groups, and state agencies.
  • Ensures high-quality person-centered services for all individuals supported.
  • Assists in formulating policies and reviewing proposals.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

·         7+ years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

·         5+ years’ experience in leadership position

·         Current working knowledge of OPWDD, DOL and ACCES-VR regulations; applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.

·         Must be able to display a high level of discretion and understand the sensitive nature of confidential information with superior emotional intelligence.
