About the positionThe Senior Tax Manager for US State and Local Indirect Tax at Amazon will serve as a technical tax adviser and supervisor for complex projects. This role requires a high level of independence while fostering collegiality within the team. The manager will focus on identifying tax issues related to corporate operations and new business initiatives, as well as overseeing tax automation systems.Responsibilities• Identifying U.S. state & local indirect, gross receipt, utility, and telecommunications transaction tax issues related to changes in corporate operations and new business initiatives, as well as tax automation systems.,• Researching state and local indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services, entity registration requirements, and invoicing.,• Preparing detailed written tax guidance and requirements for Amazon business projects and internal Finance, Accounting, and Tax teams.,• Partnering with compliance and other teams to implement and manage a telecom tax compliance process.Requirements• 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience,• Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm,• 4+ years of tax experience in the telecommunications industryNice-to-haves• Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization, including coaching of junior staff,• Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standardsBenefits• Full range of medical benefits,• Financial benefits including equity and sign-on payments,• Comprehensive employee benefits package
