As the assistant barn manager, you will assist in daily facility operations as well as the hiring, training, and continued development of staff. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing of work, providing feedback (including discipline of employees), and addressing and resolving complaints. The supervision of grooms is required at least two days every week, in the absence of the barn manager, and any other needed time. You are also responsible for organizing and overseeing care for all horses such as feeding, turnout, shoeing, grooming, haying and watering, monitoring their general health, and the administering of medications and supplements. The assistant barn manager oversees the overall appearance of the equestrian center including the barn, landscape, and offices. The assistant barn manager is required to live on site and participate with other staff in a work schedule that assures 24/7 coverage, including weekends.

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
