Assistant Track and Field Coach

Hunter College Athletics and Recreation department is seeking all qualified candidates for the Part-time Assistant Track Coach.

Reports to: Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

Position Summary:

The Part-time Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Coach reports to the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach. The purpose of this position is to assist the head coach in managing several aspects of a highly competitive NCAA Division III Cross Country & Track and Field program. The top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and a commitment to promotion a positive and healthy team culture that encourages growth and development.

Essential Responsibilities:

Coaching Responsibilities:

· Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and institution as well as the rules and regulations of the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), the NCAA, and other authorities that may legitimately influence the intercollegiate athletic

· Assist in recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Ensure full compliance with NCAA guidelines in all aspects of the recruiting process.

· Provide guidance and instruction in the personal and athletic development of the team, including counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters.

· Work together with the head coach in developing and implementing strategies for motivation student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team.

· Ensure safety through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by the team. Responsible for submitted requests for repair, maintenance, and improvement of facilities as needed

· Responsible for transportation of team to offsite practice and meet locations.

· Perform all other duties assigned.

Administrative Responsibilities:

· Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs and participate in available professional development opportunities.

· Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service education sessions and other divisional or departmental meetings.

Qualifications:

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

· Previous track & field coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level in the areas of sprints, jumps and/or hurdles is strongly preferred.

Specific Skills:

· Communicate effectively and professionally, including written, interpersonal, and public speaking.

· Must be willing to work early morning, evening, weekends and holidays.

Specialized Licenses:

· First Aid, CPR, AED training certification required.

· Driver’s license required.

Commitment: This is a part-time position from November, 1 2022 through May 31st, 2023. Attend weekly practices 2-3 days per week and attend all meets.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $2,000.00 - $4,000.00 per year
