Come work for Teen Vogue and Them! The Associate Director of Audience Development + Analytics will partner with our site leads to craft initiatives that introduce our content to new readers and build loyalty with our existing readers. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing a content distribution strategy that will extend the reach and amplification across social media channels (including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, among others), as well as newsletters, search, digital partnerships, and more. The key focus will be to understand how audiences interact with our content across channels and turn those insights into opportunities. Using analytics, research, and insights, the Associate Director will also inform the content and editorial strategy across all aspects of Teen Vogue: culture, style, politics, and identity; and Them: news, culture, entertainment, style, community, and advice. This role will focus on both high-level strategy and daily execution with responsibilities ranging from monthly reporting and partnership management to social media strategy, SEO optimization, commerce strategy and email campaigns. They should be comfortable with leveraging testing strategies, insights from within and outside the company, data and competitive research, while maintaining the brand’s standards, tone, voice and integrity.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is highly analytical, quantitative, who is also nimble and creative with the ability to think critically and incorporate data and testing into the decision-making process, and can combine editorial know-how with strong data acumen. The ideal candidate will also have strong people management skills. We need people who have an entrepreneurial spirit, an inherent understanding of the web, and an eye for strategy. Curiosity, motivation and rigor are a must.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with brand stakeholders to develop and execute data-driven audience growth plans across all content distribution platforms
  • Lead newsletter, social media, partnerships, SEO, commerce, and digital audience development strategies for Teen Vogue and Them
  • Define and maintain a continuous flow of communication between all teams, clearly advocating priorities for growth: from content and creative needs to partnership opportunities, using data and findings in support of KPIs
  • Project manage all audience development touch points and its associated components, from inception to successful completion
  • Measure the performance of audience development initiatives and optimize them according to business goals
  • Identify new growth opportunities and best practices based on emerging digital trends, competitive business intelligence and consumer insight
  • Manage overall audience development testing strategy - including funnel optimization, distribution channel mix and headline & image optimization
  • Work closely with digital leadership to determine and meet growth KPIs and ensure that they align with revenue strategy
  • Support all brand initiatives with best-in-class social and digital rollout strategy, from online partnerships to offline events
  • Develop and experiment with new content executions in emerging distribution platforms
  • Work cross-functionally with brand site editors, publishers, product development, and sales & marketing groups to identify opportunities, execute brand initiatives and maximize customer monetization
  • Lead O&O marketing for Teen Vogue and Them’s tentpole events. For Teen Vogue, that includes Summit, Acne Awards, and other major initiatives like monthly cover rollouts and commerce events like Amazon Prime Day; For Them, that includes Pride Month and other major initiatives
  • Manage a team of social editors, strategists, and analysts, providing feedback and career development

Required Skills:
  • 7+ years of experience with a major website (in the media and entertainment industry is a plus), digital advertising agency or online marketing, advertising, or publishing organization with a thorough understanding of online business models and strategies
  • A knowledge of and appreciation for Teen Vogue’s and Them’s content, and an understanding of the brand’s evolution and unique challenges
  • In-depth knowledge of digital analytics
  • First-hand experience working with a product team to ideate and launch projects — from creating briefs, and executing/testing to reporting on performance
  • Expertise in at least one or more of the following distribution channels: Social, SEO, Email, Partnerships
  • Hands-on experience managing digital audience acquisition programs
  • Entrepreneurial, digitally savvy, creative and experimental in the approach to problem solving, with exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present initiatives to creative and technical teams alike
  • Familiarity and experience with content and platforms targeted to younger audiences is a plus
The expected base salary range for this position is from $115,000 - $135,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
