OverviewWork Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm as a Radiology Assistant at Lexington Medical Center to support our Radiology Department in our excellence in patient care!Job Summary:Following completion of orientation, the Radiology Assistant is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient-care as well as being supportive of care given by the Radiology Department. Performs patient scheduling, transporting, clerical, and imaging processing functions.Education & Experience:• High school diploma or GED equivalent.• One year experience with patients preferred.Main Job Functions:• Schedules procedures for all Radiology Services and communicates any schedule changes to appropriate personnel. Enters patient's information into computer accurately.• Assesses patient for specific needs and performs patient care.• Communicates and interacts with Radiologist and other physicians.• Transports patients for Radiology Services. Checks inpatient transport card for nurse assessment of physical needs and seeks assistance if needed.• Identifies self, identifies patient, explains where the patient is to be taken and for what procedure. Ensures patients comfort during transport. Returns patient and chart to room after procedure.• Processes, copies, and files films. Develops all exposed radiographic films in a timely and efficient manner. Prepares originals or copies films that are sent to physician's offices, documents information accurately and places in appropriate location for pick up. Files films after the all the reports have been placed in folder. Files all returned films.• Provides patient and family education. Keeps patient informed while waiting before, during and after procedure(s). Provides education material to patient and family members.• Utilizes Radiology Information System appropriately. Follows established procedure to sign on and off RIS to insure desired security.• Clerical duties and documentation of information. Accurately and promptly documents in a legible manner. Maintains patient folders and reports. Can operate copiers and fax machines.• Maintains a safe environment. Wears proper PPE. Reports all broken equipment and places equipment out of service. Follows procedures per Radiology policy with knowledge and compliance with all age specific limitations as outlined.Skills for Success:• Strong oral and written communication skills• Excellent attention to detail Strong organizational skillsWork Environment:• Contact with patients, family members, visitors, coworkers and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances• Ability to work with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients• Lifting requirements includes lifting/transferring patients, X-ray supplies and movement of equipment• Exposure to hazardous substances, patient care environment, infectious diseases, body fluids, processor chemicals, and ionizing radiation• Subject to many interruptions• Required to wears proper PPE
