Your Impact

As Axon’s Senior Manager of Commercial Finance, you will serve a critical role at the intersection of revenue accounting, commercial finance, systems design, product development and sales operations. You will join a highly collaborative team partnering cross-functionally with Information Technology, Product Management, Inventory Operations, Professional Services and Sales organizations to support, design, implement, integrate, configure and maintain the systems necessary to enable timely and accurate revenue recording, reporting and forecasting. What You'll Do

Location: Remotely from USA
Reports to:
Vice President, Revenue Accounting

  • You will support upstream operations, including working with operations teams supporting inventory and work order management, both virtually and in person (based on specific times and needs)
  • Serve as a central liaison between operations, FP&A, Accounting and other teams, serving as a central point of contact and subject matter expert for questions related to revenue recognition, system configuration and support inquiries
  • Serve as subject matter expert related to ASC 606 revenue recognition policy for professional services, inventory and related areas
  • Own key functions to support the business, including work order management and inventory tracking, especially during critical accounting milestones such as quarter-end and year-end
  • Own and perform validation procedures related to upstream processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all monthly tasks in accordance with finance and accounting policies, while maintaining routine reporting to Finance and Accounting leadership
  • You will be responsible for the long-term scale and build of areas within your scope of responsibility, including complex and custom deliverables to customers. This includes developing policies and best practices related to these verticals, reviewing historical records for alignment to policy, and building scalable systems and processes for policy compliance and operations support.
  • You will monitor monthly activities to ensure all new orders, as well as any amendments, are properly documented and dispositioned in accordance with system configuration and policies
  • As needed, you will be able to travel for on-site inventories and support, including at critical Accounting milestones such as quarter-end and year-end. International travel may be required.
  • You will consistently challenge the status quo to identify process improvements in the end to end cycle, working upstream as needed for optimum coverage, efficiency and effectiveness
  • You will plan, coordinate and ensure execution of cross-functional projects that enable timely and accurate revenue recognition
  • You will participate in the product introduction/item master creation and maintenance process as needed to ensure all products and services that are generally available are configured correctly for proper revenue recognition
  • You will coordinate with Revenue policy team to understand the proper revenue outcome in order to determine specific system configuration for each product or product family
  • You will develop and deliver end user training for key stakeholders as necessary
  • You will evaluate planned upgrades for potential impact and test the system to ensure it will cause no negative impact to Axon
  • You will provide support for reconciliations of system data to general ledger and financial statements
  • You will ensure the integrity and effectiveness of key processes and controls by understanding systems, flow of transactions, internal controls and recommending efficiency and effectiveness improvements
  • You will support our team in handling growing customer and revenue data, including leveraging SQL, robotics and other automation tools to accelerate our procedures and enhance the quality of data we receive and analyze
  • You will support internal and external audit activities, including SOX Compliance
  • You will assist with special projects as assigned
  • You will bring a fresh viewpoint to help identify ways to improve the processes and efficiency as we move through a phase of rapid growth and technology change

What You Bring

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Information Systems, Accounting or related field
  • Revenue software experience
  • Six Sigma or similar qualifications highly desired
  • Previous audit experience, preferably with a Big 4 auditor, is highly desired
  • Minimum eight (8) years of accounting and systems /business analyst experience
  • Solid grasp of software development life-cycle methodologies Agile, Lean, etc.)
  • Experience in executing project management framework
  • Accounting foundation and fundamentals a MUST
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desirable
  • Experience with a publicly-traded company subject to Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX) requirements highly desirable
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required for frequent interaction with financial and non-financial management
  • Ability to identify core business use cases and partner with IT, Finance, and Operations to translate to configurable technical requirements
  • Superb attention to detail, strong planning and organization skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and high degree of ownership and pride in work product
  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ/Billing, D365 and PowerBI a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and SQL skills
  • Experience with robotics and other process automation solutions
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team setting
  • Obsessed with quality and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to influence and build consensus

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 109,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 194,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 133,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 238,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
