In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
Answer phones, take detailed messages, answer general division and college-wide related questions, and provide accurate information to and for an extremely high volume of people (128 faculty, chairs and staff plus a high volume of student traffic) at the front desk of the Professional Writing Center in the 150 Mass Ave. building.
Accept deliveries as needed for Training and Support Office and for Dean of Music Technology Division and his Assistant (as their offices are located in the Writing Center and they do not have receptionist support).
Keep track of the whereabouts and office hours of PWD faculty located in 155 Mass. Ave. offices across the street. Contacting faculty for their office hour meetings.
Assist with supply inventory and pickup, xeroxing, and miscellaneous duties
Refer students to the appropriate Chairs/faculty/locations for office hours, advising hours, various CBX tests, add-drop information, extra-help sessions, etc.
Keep track of conference room schedules in the PWD, giving out keys to booked rooms appropriately.
Assist in Project Band sign-ups, review scores, and ensure essential criteria is included in each submission while scheduling students appropriately to each band.
High receptionist skills needed
Very high customer service skills needed and ability to deal cordially with people in sometimes stressful high-traffic situations.
Student must have high command of the English language both in person and on the phone.
Student must be highly organized and able to multitask.
Must be punctual and extremely reliable.
Must be mature and professional enough to work independently when necessary.
The amount of available hours will depend on your class schedule and will most likely be between 8-14 hours/week.
