2025 GIS Summer Internship

OVERVIEW 

At Blue Raster, we pride ourselves in developing interactive web and mobile mapping applications and tools that help our clients solve, clarify, and visualize many of the world’s critical challenges. Since 2002, we’ve partnered at the senior level with leading global organizations, helping them share their unique stories through the powerful visual medium of interactive maps. 

 

THE POSITION 

We are looking for a GIS Intern to join our team in Arlington, VA this summer. The ability to be onsite in the office 2+ days / week is desired. The successful candidate is comfortable working independently and collaborating with a team with a desire to continuously learn and teach others about the newest technical advancements. You'll work with a talented team to deliver engaging web and mobile mapping applications that have a direct impact on our clients and their global missions. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Working with internal and external clients to acquire and process, analyze, and visualize data 
  • Data mining for existing, industry-standard datasets 
  • Executing, contributing to and/or authoring scripts for complex analysis and task automation 
  • Preparing GIS data for use in web mapping applications (especially ArcGIS Online & ArcGIS Enterprise) 
  • Testing interactive web mapping applications and providing feedback to the development team 
  • Creating, editing, publishing geospatial data through GIS services 
  • Research and requirements gathering 
  • Project write-ups and blog post support 
  • Experience using ArcGIS Products including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Keen interest in learning new technology (especially interactive web mapping applications)  
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Coursework in Geography/GIS or related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered. 
  • Must be able to work in our Arlington, VA office 2-3 days per week.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States 

This is a paid internship.
