Role Overview

We are looking for a Director of Product Design who will shape the future of customer interactions and experience across our entire suite of products. This role is key in defining and implementing an overarching UX strategy and approach and ensuring it is in sync with our value proposition and  business goals. You  will play a critical role in ensuring that Booksy is a design-driven company and  will focus on creating an intuitive and inspiring product for both Providers and Consumers. You will ensure the organization understands the business value of delivering such products and will lead the design team in executing projects with speed and agility. 

You will lead a team of designers and UX writers embedded into respective product development teams  and report to Booksy Chief Product Officer.  This is a critical leadership role that will have a broad strategic impact, influencing not just product development but also overall  business strategy.

The role is remote, with occasional travel involved and preferably based in the UK, Spain, Portugal or Poland. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define UX principles,  vision and strategy for Booksy 
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive UX/design  strategy aligned with our company's goals and vision
    • Articulate UX/design vision and principles guiding our approach 
    • Use design language to influence strategic decision making, communicate strategic concepts, and facilitate understanding of direction we want to take product experience at Booksy 
    • Lead innovation - analyze, identify and propose solutions that continuously enhance customers experience, help us think big and add a competitive advantage to our offering 
  • Establish and operationalise customer focus 
    • Ensure that all product development is grounded in customer needs and informed by customer evidence 
    • Champion customer-centric Design  and partner closely with product and engineering teams to integrate UX best practices into every stage of the product lifecycle.
    • Ensure usability of our products is top notch and adds to a delightful experience 
  • Craft, operational excellence and impact 
    • Leverage user research, usability studies, and analytics to continually refine and enhance user experience, driving data-informed design improvements.
    • Establish an operational rigor in the Deing team - build and refine scalable design processes, tools, and systems that support rapid growth, enabling your team to deliver high-quality, consistent results without compromising agility.
    • Establish and practice a set of design-led methods to facilitate discovery, ideation and innovation 
    • Establish and leverage design practices such as usability studies or rapid prototyping  to drive fast, iterative execution and speed up time to value 
    • Stay abreast of UX trends, tools, and technologies, driving innovation in design practices to maintain our competitive advantage.

  • Leadership, team development and collaboration
    • Foster an effective collaboration between product development functions - product, engineer, data and research 
    • Ensure design team is partnering with other product development teams and actively impacting the whole product development lifecycle 
    • Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders across Booksy organization to align UX initiatives with business objectives and drive product success
    • Hire, coach and develop a high performing team of designers and UX writers 
    • Foster a culture of design craft, continuous improvement and innovation that attracts and grows top talent 

  • Product/UX design experience with increasing scope and complexity.
  • Experience with a diverse suite of digital products, ideally including both consumer and SaaS/B2B products. Credibility and experience gained bringing multiple products to market 
  • Customer focused mindset backed up with a toolkit to work back from customers. 
  • Well established  product design craft expertise and proficiency in using design tools and methodologies to enhance product development.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and impactfully across all organizational levels, particularly using the language of design to inspire, align and deliver impact 
  • Operational excellence and discipline -  experience of setting up and scaling agile product development processes involving KPIs ownership, progress monitoring, continuous improvement, and rapid iteration.
  • Pragmatic with speed over perfection mindset.   
  • Data and evidence based approach - comfortable with data, able to analyze and draw conclusions and  guide teams in making informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • High comfort with ambiguity and frequent change. Ability to  navigate from ambiguity to clarity, drawing upon expertise and design process to create structure.
  • Leadership skills and track record of leading, building and developing high performance teams.
  • Comfort and experience of moving between strategy work,  thinking big and framing designs in the context of the broader customer experience and long term vision and getting hands on and deep into the details
  • Ability to work closely, build trust and alliances across stakeholders, domains and functions within and outside product development 
  • Self-starter comfortable working independently with minimum steering or supervision. Ability to proactively plan ahead, look around corners, and define the next step
