Dermatology Tech

The Dermatology Tech is responsible for the following:• Assists physician during procedure by positioning and holding patients during laser, biopsies, excisions, phototherapy, injections, or testing.• Positions patients and obtains photographic images as directed by physician.• Develops, labels, and document images at the completion of the procedure.• Assists nurses and physicians obtain prior authorizations for special procedures being done in Dermatology and Rheumatology Programs.• Prepares patient and room for procedures.• Provides physician with clinical packets and other important documents.• Sets up and arrange instruments, prepare procedure kits, and label the specimen taken.• Maintains all photography equipment and database.• Documents, reports, or delivers any specialty labs done in clinic.• Prepares microscope with specimen slides and documents for physician viewing.• Oversees regulatory guidelines of equipment.• Schedules and notifies Biomed when preventative maintenance is due, staff orientation, and record keeping.• Monitors inventory and identifies and reports items to be reordered.• Cleans and organizes exam room at completion of examinations.• Collects and prepares specimen and other data and paper recordings for physician.• Cleans and sanitizes room using specific cleaning agents and sets up equipment for next scheduled patient.• Establishes supportive relationship with patients and families.• Identifies patients’/families’ specific needs and incorporates into patient care as appropriate.• Explains examination procedure to patients/parents and answers questions within the scope of knowledge and authority.• Performs and records measurement of heights and weights.The Dermatology Tech must have the following:• High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred
