Job Description

We are currently looking for a Director, Business Intelligence & Data Engineering to join our growing team! In this role, you will enhance data accessibility and usability for decision-making across the business. You will drive operational efficiency through effective data management and reporting solutions. You will also foster a culture of data-driven practices within the organization. You will enable informed decision-making by providing actionable insights and performance metrics. You will strengthen relationships with stakeholders to align data strategies with business needs.

As a Director, Business Intelligence & Data Engineering, your duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Lead the gathering of data requirements and user/technical specifications, translating them into clear directions for data warehouse solutions
  • Architect and design scalable data models, data marts, and summaries that meet current and future business needs, supporting dashboards, reporting, and advanced analytics
  • Establish data infrastructure standards to ensure high-quality insights for informed decision-making, and identify opportunities for process improvements by automating workflows, optimizing data delivery, and enhancing ETL and data integration for better scalability and performance
  • Plan, estimate, and manage project timelines to ensure milestones are met and align with the data roadmap
  • Lead efforts to ensure data quality, integrity, and standardization through the development and implementation of robust processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Oversee proof-of-concept activities by working with large, complex data sets and creating optimal ETL solutions in collaboration with IT to bring initiatives to fruition
  • Manage, mentor, and coach teams in Data Infrastructure, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence, fostering the development of sustainable solutions that meet customer and business objectives, and supporting the migration of solutions into production
  • Lead all data infrastructure initiatives within the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Oversee user testing processes, ensuring thorough documentation and supporting efforts to democratize data access across the organization
  • Develop aggregated data views and reporting tools for stakeholders, establishing metrics to monitor the effectiveness of data initiatives
  • Stay informed on industry trends, coaching the team on best practices and recommending new technologies

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, or related disciplines
  • Proven record of at least 8 years in business intelligence or data engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Excel at collaborating with stakeholders to gather and define user requirements and have experience in conducting user testing and documentation
  • Passionate about making data accessible and understandable for all business units, promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver actionable insights and establish performance metrics
  • Communicate effectively with diverse teams and can influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledgeable about data architecture, ETL processes, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and have a keen interest in emerging technologies in the data landscape
