Who you are

Brightwheel is seeking a Staff Product Designer to drive work across iOS, Android, and web. You'll work embedded in a cross-functional product team with product managers, engineers, and designers to build beautiful, easy to use products for teachers and families across the globe. You bring a strong understanding of design principles and best practices across a variety of project types focussed on our education product. You thrive working on projects that are of the utmost importance to our users and that move the company forward.

What You’ll Do
  • Work with cross-functional partners in Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science to understand customer problems, key opportunities, and define both the long term UX vision and also short term releases that deliver customer value.
  • Advocate for great UX, inspiring your teams with a strong point of view about what’s possible and aspirational for your product area.
  • Take projects 0-1.
  • Speak clearly to tradeoffs and the “Why” behind design decisions in terms non-designers can understand and participate in.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to iteratively improve the user experience and validate design solutions.
  • You’ll drive team-wide impact through mentorship, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration
  • Provide and seek feedback from other designers to always push the bar for quality.
  • Maintain design consistency across the product, contributing to our design system.
  • Partner with the marketing team to ensure our product design reflects and reinforces the brightwheel brand.

Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Designer.
  • 2+ years of mobile experience across iOS and Android
  • A strong portfolio of case studies that demonstrate a successful track record of human-centered design solutions that address strategic business problems.
  • Experience designing end-to-end customer journeys from software to service.
  • Deep expertise in UI/UX craft; passion for visual design, interaction details, typography,  design system and pixel perfect deliverables.
  • The ability to think long term towards a broader vision or step change, while being able to speak to scoping and sequencing to deliver iterative value.
  • Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
  • Experience shipping quality experiences across iOS, Android, and Web.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment — balancing rigor and scrappiness. You have a strong bias for action and focus on impact.
  • A highly collaborative approach to working with engineering and product teams.
  • A passion for improving the world through education.
