Description: What will you be engaged in day-to-day? • Analyzing requirements to determine level of effort needed for assigned editing and proofreading tasks. • Copyediting, fact-checking, or proofreading written text as assigned, as well as enhancing the quality of content to ensure it resonates with all intended audiences. • Coordinating layout and organization of materials and other documents according to prepared outlines and specifications.• Detecting and correcting errors in spelling, grammar, and style, as well as ensuring consistency of formatting and other style considerations within documents.• Adhering to style guides such as Government Publishing Office and AP style, as well as the specific styles of various clients.• Editing material to adhere to federal plain language guidelines.• Performing other duties as assigned.Requirements:What qualifications will help you succeed?• This position requires a B.S. or B.A. degree in an applicable field of study, such as English or writing, or the equivalent education or experience, plus a minimum of 4 years of experience in editing and proofreading documents related to project assignments.• Excellent written communication skills, including flawless English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.• Proficiency in the editorial style of the Government Publishing Office and AP.• Knowledge of and experience with federal plain language guidelines and standards.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, most especially Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.• Proven working experience as a copyeditor or proofreader, and an excellent portfolio of edited products.• Exceptional attention to detail along with critical thinking.• Ability to successfully manage multiple, simultaneous assignments and deadlines.• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and support quick turnaround requests• Ability to multitask and prioritize requests• The position requires initiative, dependability, and discretion in dealing with proprietary information.Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.IQ Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer and an Affirmative Action Employer (M/F/Disabled/Veteran).
