PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:

• Responsible for Supply Chain Management of commodities to support Optimas/CBN requirements while consistently seeking the best product for the best value.

REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager

SIGNIFICANT POSITION DIMENSIONS:

• Direct Reports: None
• Working under the guidance of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will process and maintain the daily workload of purchase requests submitted by all CBN departments.
• Responsible for commodity purchases in excess of $4.0 million to support all business requirements, obtaining quotes, and ensuring the timely delivery of all production materials and MRO.
• Resolve invoicing exceptions with suppliers and internal Accounts Payable Dept.
• Develop, implement and ensure a successful launch of cost savings ideas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Process daily requests

o Expedite production material requirements

o Compare competing quotes for the best possible sources of supply and delivery

o Research invoice issues as they pertain to the buyer’s commodities

o Explore new sources of supply

o Track any cost savings developed

ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily interaction with all CBN departments and associates, work closely with all managers and associates to ensure accurate requirements and timely deliveries are met, fostering a close cooperative environment.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

• The Buyer/Planner is responsible for ensuring that the Sales, Operations, and MRO operations of CBN are properly serviced by supplying the required goods and services in a timely, cost effective manner
• Materials must be specified properly with any machinery, or value-added labor it is subjected to in their final use
• Standardization and continuity of quality and supply are paramount for the successful operation of the manufacturing process
• The Buyer will solicit quotations from qualified suppliers for new materials and/or product substitutions
• The Buyer’s goal is to maintain supplier partnerships that will protect CBN’s operational capability by ensuring consistent material availability in any market condition
• Strong problem-solving skills, taking the initiative to improve the business, and excellent communication skills within the Dept in working with internal customers and external suppliers, fosters a strong partnership that ensures successful continuation and growth of CBN sales.
• Approximately 5% travel to supplier sites

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience. CPM preferred

EXPERIENCE:

o Minimum 3-5 years experience in purchasing or related field

o Strong computer skills including Office 365 as well as internal CBN MRP systems

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Results oriented with ability to function in a team environment
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making and negotiating skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects while effectively meeting deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
