About the Role:

Carbyne is looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products.  This is a great opportunity for a skilled writer to join a small team in a rapidly expanding Startup company.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for documenting multiple products, in addition to collaborating on a number of other products and content areas.  S/he will interface with the designers, developers, customer service and operations team to publish quality documentation to tight deadlines.

Writing the documentation includes:

  • Responsibility for one or more products, including tracking development and keeping stakeholders updated.
  • Interviewing Product and developers to understand new features and how to use them.
  • Conforming to the company guidelines and documentation style.
  • Using JIRA and Perforce to investigate features and bugs.
  • Checking screenshots are correct for the current release and contain logical information, and editing the image if required..
  • Ideally translating to other languages (currently Spanish and Hebrew) using Phrase and Paligo. 

The writer will receive training from the Documentation Manager in Technical Writing for Carbyne customers, and in use of our documentation tools, such as Paligo and Phrase. 



Responsibilities:

  1. Work with product managers, product marketing, and engineers to create and maintain world-class documentation, such as User Guides, Release notes, UX writing (tooltips, captions, etc.)
  2. Deliver high-quality documentation, paying attention to detail
  3. Quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and images
  4. Analyze current content and make improvements as necessary

  1. 3-5 years experience as a Technical Writer for both a technical and non-technical audience
  2. Technical Writing certification or equivalent demonstrable experience in journalism, instructional writing or a similar writing field.
  3. Excellent English writing skills.  
  4. Spanish writing skills -a strong advantage.
  5. Ability to communicate in Hebrew
  6. Graphic editing skills - experience with Figma an advantage
  7. Understanding of new technologies (Cloud, IoT, Mobile etc.)
  8. Experience in topic-based authoring- an advantage
  9. Experience in an Agile environment - an advantage
  10. Familiarity with Paligo, MadCap Flare, or similar CMS tools- an advantage
  11. Familiarity with content migration - an advantage
  12. Organized, with strong time management skills
  13. The writer needs to be proactive, comfortable with learning new software programs, organized, and committed to meeting deadlines.
