Department Summary
| The Career Center Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Career Coach to join our team. Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students by working with students, faculty, and staff in assigned college(s). This includes but is not limited to individual advising, teaching, programming, and group workshops.

Position Overview
| The job market is rapidly changing, and students are in need of internship and job preparation support to accomplish their goals. Additionally, workforce changes include the need to work remotely as well as how positions are hired. Students are in need of better training and support to adjust to evolving workplace needs. UNT is hiring more career coaches to embed in the colleges to enhance support and provide more personal outreach to students. The increase in career coaches allows more students to have individualized attention that helps prepare them for these changes.

For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Career Coach to join the Career Center’s College of Education Career team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

*Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students, by working with students, faculty, and staff in the College of Education. This includes, but is not limited to, individual advising teaching, programming, and group workshops. *Identify internship opportunities aligned with departmental requirements for their assigned department. Promote available internships to students and the College of Education team. Provide internship search guidance for students. Work with College of Education team and Career Center Employer Services team to ensure internship best practices are developed and followed. Help match students to appropriate internship opportunities. *Cultivate and support relationships with current and new employers recruiting students from assigned department, in partnership with the COE Dean’s Office and the UNT Career Center. *Lead job and internship market research efforts for their assigned area, in order to provide current and relevant data to faculty and students. Work directly with student organizations in making connections to corporate speakers/mentors. *Manage the assessment of career programs, services, and outcomes and deliver reports to their supervisor. *Provide marketing of career services to the students and faculty in the assigned department.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops.
  • Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations.
  • Experience in networking across departments and programs.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • Experience in Kinesiology, Health, Recreation, and/or Human Development and Family Sciences.

Job Duties

o
Identify, maintain, and cultivate internship opportunities with community and corporate partners in collaboration with Career Center Employer Services and College of Education team. Maintain a list of active internship sites and experiences and communicate to students and faculty.

o
Analyze student’s career paths, initiate career assessments, provide advice on resume development, interview preparation, and offer internship and job search resources.

o
Develop and conduct workshops and seminars on a variety of topics, assess their effectiveness and implement changes needed to engage and enhance student preparedness for the workplace.

o
Support students interested in pursuing graduate studies and identifying appropriate internship and job activities.

o
In collaboration with the COE Student Advising Office, create student engagement related to career readiness in the college.

o
Develop ongoing relationship with faculty, staff and administration working with the College of Education student population.

o
Track data related to career development, student engagement, and student retention. Analyze and report progress to COE. Reports should include evidence of the impact of student engagement on retention and career success.

o
Provide assistance to other units in the Career Center and perform other duties as assigned for optimal operational success of the Career Center.
