Preconstruction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join our small but growing EPC team and help build an effective, scalable procurement infrastructure by managing construction-related subcontract and services engagements from preconstruction through project execution.

You Will:
  • Review and collaborate on estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction) with the internal engineering team and external experts.
  • Network with potential EPC partners, identify right EPCs for projects
  • Prepare RFP bid packages and coordinate the bidding process, including Q&A and site visits.
  • Review and descope RFP bids, including assuring that the estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project. This includes assuring that there are an adequate number of qualified and financially sound subcontractor proposals received and evaluated.
  • Plan and lead the preconstruction strategy on the approach to the project
  • Assure that potential risk factors have been evaluated and reviewed with senior management
  • Review contracts and major purchase orders for compliance with the documents and the budget.
  • Coordinate and assure that a construction schedule has been developed for each project.
  • Provide monthly cost analysis for all active preconstruction project
  • Organize and lead the transition meeting between the development and the construction team
  • Visit potential projects to verify site conditions, meet with prospective bidders, meet with landowners, etc. Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
  • Identify and qualify new material suppliers and subcontractors and place into the subcontractor database.
  • Meeting with AHJs and utilities to understand the path to permission to operate.  Identify key risks and mitigate prior to EPC Contract execution.
  • Support sales and development in providing constructability analysis


What You Bring to the Team:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, supply chain management, or logistics preferred.
  • Renewable energy industry experience preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in the following areas:
  • Estimating, scheduling, budgeting/cost control, financial reporting, and client relationship
  • Success in managing the pre construction process for major, complex projects.
  • Using procurement software and databases
  • In-depth knowledge of contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms
  • Must have previous experience as a Procurement manager and/or Preconstruction manager
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act,  New York City Salary Transparency Law and California Pay Transparency Law, Catalyze provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado,  New York City or California. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado,  New York City, NY and California  only, the range of starting pay range for this role is $95,000 to $115,000 USD.
