The Role:

Beam is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager who is passionate about building and leading high-performing, collaborative teams. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll oversee a team of 5–8 engineers, guiding them in delivering high-quality solutions while fostering a culture of innovation and growth.


You will work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to drive projects, refine technical direction, and contribute to Beam’s success. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance technical expertise, people management, and execution to ensure the team delivers impactful results.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing mentorship and support to help them grow in their roles and careers
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Product and Design partners to align on priorities and ensure successful project delivery
  • Drive the execution of technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and meet quality standards
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to design discussions, helping the team solve complex problems
  • Balance short-term project needs with long-term technical goals to maintain a scalable and reliable tech stack
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, risks, and opportunitiesIdentify and hire talented engineers who will contribute to Beam’s product and technical ecosystem


What You Will Bring:
  • 5–8 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 1–2 years in a management or technical leadership role
  • A strong foundation in software development, with the ability to guide and review technical work
  • Excellent people management skills, with experience coaching and mentoring engineers
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • A passion for fostering a team culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment


Technical Skills and Experience Needed to Be Successful:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5–8 years of experience in software engineering, including delivering full-stack solutions
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages and frameworks like Ruby on Rails, React, or similar technologies
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and microservices architecture
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining complex multi-tiered web applications and peripheral microservices
  • Familiarity with automation testing concepts and platforms like Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, cucumber etc.
  • Ability to inspire pizza pie sized engineers towards a quality and security-first product development methodology Familiarity with agile development methodologies, ceremonies and project management tools such as Jira
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry
  • A track record of hiring and growing diverse, high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience collaborating with Product and Design partners to align on roadmaps and priorities


$115,200 - $184,200 a year
The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position.
