Communications & Research Analyst

Company Description:

Claros Technologies is a venture-backed, deep-tech company solving the worldwide challenge of destroying PFAS in the environment. PFAS remediation is rapidly becoming a multi-billion-dollar, global market and is at the center of regulatory action in the US, Europe, and Asia that requires the removal of this carcinogen from drinking water, industrial processes, and waste sites. Claros has developed a patented, scalable destruction technology proven to fully destroy 99.99% of PFAS in customers’ samples.

We are a diverse team of scientists, business-builders, and impact leaders committed to solving problems without creating new ones. The company closed a $20M financing round in the beginning of 2024 with leading environment venture capital firms, which provides the credibility and resources required to convert current pilot users into full scale commercial customers as well as to sell easy-to-identify prospects across the globe.

If you are a mission driven, highly motivated Marketing Specialist, join us as we solve one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Communications Analyst, Researcher, and Writer to support content development, media strategy, and industry research. Unlike a marketing role, this position is focused on thought leadership, media engagement, and technical storytelling—helping craft Claros' voice in the industry, ensuring our innovations are well-understood by policymakers, investors, and media.

This is an onsite position based in our Minneapolis office, where you will collaborate closely with the Communications team and company leadership. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, research capabilities, and the ability to distill complex technical topics into compelling content.

Essential Job Functions:

Thought Leadership & Content Development

  • Lead the finalization of white papers and technical papers, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and impact.
  • Draft and format internal technical papers into media-friendly formats, preparing them for digital distribution, video adaptation, and press use.
  • Develop communications products for external audiences, including policymakers, investors, and media.
  • Write content for blogs, op-eds, and owned media properties, positioning Claros as a thought leader in the field.

Research & Media Analysis

  • Track and analyze PFAS-related media coverage, maintaining a database of key journalists, trade publications, and non-traditional media sources.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and policy research to inform communication strategies.
  • Support media and stakeholder analysis, helping refine messaging and outreach strategies.

Media, Event & Webinar Support

  • Assist in communications logistics to ensure the seamless execution of press briefings, webinars, and media engagements.
  • Support research conferences and events, including submitting white papers, coordinating speaker applications, and preparing sponsorship materials.
  • Collaborate with video production teams to provide technical expertise for high-level educational and sales videos.
  • Assist in producing and coordinating webinars, from content development to execution.

Technology & PR Software Management

  • Manage PR software such as Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, and newswire services to track media engagement and optimize outreach.

Competencies & Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Environmental Science, or a related field.
    • Proven ability to translate complex scientific or technical concepts into clear, engaging content.
    • Experience with media tracking tools and PR platforms (e.g., Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater).
    • Experience drafting research papers, industry reports, or policy briefs is highly desirable.
    • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred Experience:

    • 6+ years of experience in communications, technical writing, research, and/or media analysis, preferably in B2B industries.
    • 6+ years proven experience executing successful social media strategies.
    • Experience marketing technical products, solutions, or services, a plus.
    • Experience working with marketing tools such as Hubspot, a plus.
    • Experience working with marketing design tools such as Adobe, Canva, etc., a plus.

    Job Specifications

    • Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000
    • Location: In person at the Claros Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Some ability to work remotely as needed
    • Travel: May be required periodically for purposes such as client site visits or industry events and conferences
