Your new role: VP of Engineering

Location - Germany

The VP Engineering will be responsible for aligning the engineering efforts with the company’s strategic goals, ensuring that all software development teams are working towards a common vision. One of the main objectives of the VP Engineering are to help us scale the organisation and guide us through a period of hyper-growth. Our already existing engineering practices and processes should be improved for greater efficiency and technical debt should be kept at a minimum. 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Team management & hiring – building the software development teams of the future; decide whom to hire to build high performing software development teams 
  • Delivery process – build software products efficiently and with high quality; adjust and change our development processes and ensure efficiency in delivery 
  • Budgeting – design the people- & services budget for the entire software development part of our Engineering department; decide how we will allocate and spend most of our budget 
  • Analyze status-quo on status of product-roadmap implementation – report to the CSA / other stakeholders regarding the implementation status  
  • Weekly meetings with all Engineering Managers in order to review our most critical metrics such as defect-rate, mean time between failure, efficiency of our teams as well as cycle time 
  • Perform & analyze employee engagement surveys to understand issues in the organization 
  • Keep an eye on the budget and review it on a monthly basis to keep track of our actual spendings

About you

  • At least 10 years of experience in software development for SaaS businesses with a BSc in computer science or an equivalent field as a must 
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in leadership roles such as Engineering Managers, Director of Engineering or equivalent positions in an software development organization with more than 45 people. 
  • Successfully scaled a software engineering teams & at least doubled the number of engineers within 12 months or less 
  • Industry experience in the enterprise SaaS business (must!) with experience in the Conversational AI / Gen AI market (nice to have) 
  • Strong software development background including all states of software development (implementation, testing, rollouts, monitoring)
  • Strategic thinking & business acumen to drive financial discussions regarding the software development budget for people & services
  • Strong communication skills to express ideas and convince the senior leadership
  • People leadership & talent acquisition to shape the software development teams of the future
