Weekend Nurse Practitioner/Physician's Assistant

The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.


The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing primary health care to individuals and families who may be admitted to the Stout Street Recuperative Center (SSRC) or clinics at Stout Street Health Center / Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. The NP/PA provides high-quality acute, chronic, and preventive care across the full age span, and works collaboratively with the SSHC multidisciplinary integrated health team.

NOTE: In order to ensure that our consumers receive the best possible care the candidate chosen to fill this position will be required to complete our internal credentialing and privileging process prior to a start date.  The credentialing and privileging timeline is dependent on the selected candidate's submission of documents necessary for clearance.  Please note that a start date will be scheduled once credentialing and privileging is complete.

Essential Job Functions 
  • Provides direct, high-quality, primary medical care to people experiencing homelessness.
  • Breathes the spirit of Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care with clients, and provides information and choices in a non-judgmental, respectful manner.
  • Takes initiative to determine ways to deliver health care in a more compassionate, expedited, user-friendly manner.
  • Collaborates and consults effectively and bi-directionally with all CCH staff and identifies and addresses the complex issues which may adversely impact the health of patients.
  • Maximizes community linkages while acting as advocate for patients.
  • Provides clinical precepting opportunities for providers-in-training as scheduling allows.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications Summary 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple job responsibilities, work independently, and exercise sound professional judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain consistent customer service skills; excellent interpersonal/assertive communications skills demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Maintain an appropriate spectrum of family practice and adult medicine experience and skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of homeless issues. Demonstrate sensitivity to and a desire to work with underserved populations.

Education and Work Experience

Requirements for Nurse Practitioners:
  • A Master of Science or Doctorate degree in Nursing from a program accredited by the American Nurse Association or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
  • Current registration (or ability to obtain) in the State of Colorado as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurse's Credentialing Center.
Requirements for Physician Assistant
  • Graduation from a program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistants. 
  • Current licensure (or ability to obtain) with the State of Colorado to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification with the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. 


$52.50 - $69.31 an hour
