Join the power movement as a Senior Director of Information Technology


We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director of Information Technology to join our team. You will lead our Information Technology (IT) and Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) teams, ensuring that our technology infrastructure and operations align with our business goals and support our commitment to innovation in the energy sector. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of advanced technology and energy systems, along with the ability to implement practical solutions that improve efficiency that enhance our competitive edge.


What you'll do:
  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Align IT strategy to support research, design, production, and validation of commercial fusion energy technology
  • Identify and implement cutting-edge technologies that support the development and deployment of tough tech solutions

  • Technology Management:
  • Oversee the management and optimization of IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect sensitive information and critical infrastructure

  • Innovation and Development:
  • Foster a culture of innovation & experimentation within the IT and EIS team and across the organization.
  • Guide technology leaders to balance short term priorities with over-the-horizon thinking to support a rapidly evolving enterprise
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and business teams to advance automation throughout the company

  • Team Leadership:
  • Build and lead a high-performing IT and EIS team, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Mentor and guide technology leaders to cultivate a strong leadership pipeline

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align IT strategies with business priorities
  • Support the infrastructure requirements of software teams tasked with developing key SCADA and Production software systems
  • Engage with external partners to vet next generation technology and systems

  • Operational Excellence:
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of IT initiatives
  • Develop a culture of data driven decision making
  • Ensure the effective management of IT budgets, resources, and projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in IT processes and service delivery

  • Financial Management:
  • Foster a culture of financial accountability
  • Drive technology leaders to leverage tiered talent models that include in-house, contract and offshore resources to best align with financial priorities
  • Build processes and tools for robust management of public cloud costs


What we’re looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Understanding of tough tech, including advanced materials, AI, robotics, and other emerging technologies
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in demanding startup environments with dynamic priorities
  • Experience managing the implementation of ERP and enterprise data platforms
  • Familiarity with key ERP sub-systems including finance, supply chain, quality, etc.
  • Background working in environments with heavy reliance on Operational Technology (OT) platforms including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and SCADA systems
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity, data management, and IT infrastructure
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale IT projects and budgets


Must-have requirements:
  • Ability to type, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics


$250,000 - $350,000 a year
Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefits. The actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Benefits include:
