Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy company, is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Communication Manager to join our team. The Communication Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and executing Nerdy's internal and external communication strategies. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our brand's voice and messaging are consistently communicated, both internally and externally.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in communication roles, preferably in the technology or education sector.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis communication and issues management.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms.
  • Creative and innovative thinking with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of educational technology trends and industry best practices is a plus.


Responsibilities


Internal Communication:


  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to foster a positive and informed work environment.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create and disseminate important company announcements, updates, and messages to employees.
  • Manage internal communication channels, including newsletters, intranet, and company meetings.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with company goals.
  • Provide communication support for change management initiatives, ensuring employees are informed and engaged.


External Communication:


  • Create and execute comprehensive external communication plans to enhance Nerdy's brand reputation and presence.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, public relations firms, and industry stakeholders.
  • Craft press releases, articles, blog posts, and other content to showcase Nerdy's achievements, thought leadership, and innovations.
  • Manage crisis communication strategies and response plans, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage and online mentions, and prepare reports for senior leadership.


Content Creation:


  • Produce engaging and informative content, including but not limited to press releases, blog posts, social media updates, and videos.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and people team to align content strategies with company initiatives
  • Ensure all external communication materials are consistent with Nerdy's brand guidelines.
