Communications Manager

Job Description:

Communications Specialist/Manager

The Communications Manager will play a key role in the life of Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) by serving as a conduit to many audiences. The Communications Manager will help to share news and information through a variety of media, and support the goals of OCS by contributing to the overall integrated communications plan.

Primary Responsibilities

· Curate and create content for print and digital channels (including print publications, social media, website and email communications).

· Work with internal departments to plan and execute communications in support of goals.

· Support the schools’ advertising plan and other marketing work.

· Lead or support annual, as well as periodic, communications projects.

· Facilitate media and community relations efforts as needed.

· Serve as back-up when crisis response is needed.

Specific tasks will include:

· Managing OCS’s presence on Facebook and Instagram

· Managing OCS’s email communications program

· Maintaining OCS’s communications calendar

· Maintaining constituent data

· Writing, proofreading, and editing communications for a variety of channels

· Coordinating and managing all professional photography needs for schools, including working with outside vendors

· Maintaining an OCS photography database

· Assisting with digital design

· Attending a variety of school events

Requirements

· Possess exceptional writing skills (for both traditional and social media)

· Demonstrated comfort with technology, including:

o Intranet management and support

o Manipulating images for the web

o Working with programs such as Eventbrite, Constant Contact, and Mail Chimp

o Editing web pages

o Data manipulation and optimization

· Able to think strategically, creatively, and critically

· Work independently and collaboratively

· Take initiative and prioritize work responsibilities

· Meet varied demands with integrity, enthusiasm, creativity, and flexibility

· Display self-awareness, sound judgement, and professionalism even under stressful circumstances

· Develop an understanding of and strong affinity for the Office of Catholic Schools mission and strategic priorities

The ideal applicant will hold a degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or related field and have relevant experience of at least five years, and have a variety of recent and relevant writing samples/work products available to share. A familiarity with schools is a plus.

Experience & education:

· 3-5 years experience in journalism, marketing, digital or social media

· Bachelor’s degree in multimedia and digital communication preferred, but not required.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Teams apps, video and photo editing tools, Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
