Five9 is looking to add a world-class contract negotiator to join its Legal & Compliance team. You will partner closely with the sales team, as well as other functions such as finance, sales operations, professional services, RFP, and account management.

The Role: In this role, you will:

  • Report to the Sr. Director, Legal and assist with the execution of day-to-day sales and commercial legal activity.
  • Provide transactional legal support to the sales teams, including drafting and negotiating various contractual documents such as NDAs, MSAs, BAAs, DPAs, Reseller Agreements, Vendor Agreements, etc.
  • Execute on company business objectives and participate in key initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a "trusted advisor" to the sales teams you support, while providing guidance to other functions based on your experience and understanding Five9's business, processes, policies, and positions.
  • Resolve business and legal issues through clear, practical, and pragmatic legal guidance.
  • Deliver training and education to Sales and other organizations regarding, among others, updates to Five9 templates, associated business issues, various agreement forms and processes, and negotiation best practices.

Qualifications Needed To Be Successful In This Role:

  • Motivated. You are a self-starter with a strong work ethic, who is willing to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, and deals-focused environment.
  • Business Acumen and Legal Knowledge. You have in-depth knowledge of SaaS contracts, commercial and contract law, and a working knowledge of intellectual property, anti-corruption, HIPAA, data privacy, and security. You understand complex contracting principles and their impact on the business. You are able to find creative and use solutions-oriented approach to customer-raised issues, all in an effort to accelerate deal velocity.
  • Adaptability. You are comfortable working in a dynamic environment, and demonstrate the ability to successfully handle frequent changes in priorities, deadlines, and workload.
  • Communication and Influence. You have strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate concisely (in writing and verbally) and negotiate complex legal and business issues with all staff levels within and outside of Five9. You display gravitas and have the ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a strong team of sales and other company business units. You have dedication and compassion for a positive customer experience with a willingness to meet with customers to discuss open issues.

You have the willingness to assist with the maintenance and refinement of templates, playbooks, and processes with the efficient and effective functioning of the Transactional Legal team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience working and supporting transactional legal matters in a multinational organization in a high-pressure tech sales environment.
  • Substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex SaaS transactions and understanding complex technology transactions issues such as intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, cloud services, compliance, data processing and protection, and regulatory.
  • Ability to work autonomously with excellent judgment in knowing when and how to escalate issues to the appropriate level utilizing proposed solutions and approaches.
  • Significant experience using customer agreements and templates as the starting point of negotiations.
  • Operate efficiently and effectively in an environment heavily dependent on Five9 and third-party tools and communications systems, including a high proficiency with basic desktop applications (e.g., Office 365 and DocuSign).
  • Flexibility to support work across various time zones and cultures.
  • Strong working knowledge of business processes for Cloud business capabilities like go-to-market, customer experiences, finance processes, and operational efficiencies.
  • Experience with telecommunications law and data privacy frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, is strongly preferred.
  • Based in San Ramon, CA.
