Director of AI/ML Infrastructure and DevOps

The OpportunityReporting to the Head of the Technology Office, the Director will assist in crafting and executing plans for our AI Platform, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with our goals are top priorities.The RoleTechnical Expertise• Create and execute AI/ML models and algorithms with the use of advanced principles, architectures, and frameworks. Utilize proficiency in mainstream programming languages and libraries to advance AI projects.• Knowledge in AI platform and product development: familiar with designing, constructing, or supervising AI infrastructures, particularly those based on cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google, featuring a range of language models in various capacities, whether open to the public or proprietary.• Specialized data engineering skills: Designing, establishing, and preserving data pipelines, applying data processing methodologies, and managing data storage solutions tailored for AI workloads.• Create scalable AI solutions by following software engineering best practices, which encompass utilizing the software development lifecycle, integrating DEVOPS methodologies, and implementing thorough testing approaches.Leadership and Management• In strategic thinking, it is important to align AI programs with overarching team goals and create actionable roadmaps to guide their implementation.• Champion a culture of creativity and mentorship in AI divisions, empowering teams to collaborate and grow collectively.• Encourage collaboration across different business areas by involving stakeholders and leaders from diverse expertise.• Project management requires overseeing collaborations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of AI projects, and proficiently managing resources and risks.Strategic Vision• Stay updated on the current trends and innovations in AI technology to spot potential opportunities and risks.• Crafting a compelling storyline: Formulating a narrative that encapsulates the essence of vision and journey.• Encouraging innovation: Advocate for trying out and exploring the newest AI methods to maintain a competitive advantage.• Considering ethical aspects is crucial in facilitating the conscientious and just progress and implementation of AI.• AI as the Champion, the prospects it offers, and the roadmap we are following with our partners.• Consistently stay updated on the newest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies to enhance your knowledge.• Clarify detailed AI concepts for non-tech colleagues to strengthen comprehension, integration, and engagement.Vendor Management:• Handling the contractual ownership agreements for AI technology suppliers.• Preside over vendor connections to guarantee the meeting of service standards and contractual commitments.Financial Management:• Directly managing funds exceeding $10 million allocated to an AI and cloud platformTeam Leadership:• Coordinate a team of skilled IT professionals to deliver outstanding results.• Support the creation of an environment that prioritizes creativity, teamwork, and constant progress.Your Proficiencies and Career Experience• The necessary academic requirement is a degree at the undergraduate level in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, mathematics, or a similar discipline• Candidates with a master's degree and relevant certifications are in high demand• Accumulating ten plus years of valuable IT experience• Established leadership capabilities honed over a period of at least four years.• Coordinating IT projects globally involves leveraging diverse skill sets and expertise from team members worldwide.• Desired qualifications include experience in a regulated environment, particularly Pharma/Biotech• Well-versed in solution architecture, particularly in cloud solutions like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.• Foster relationships with stakeholders of varying expertise levels, including those with technical know-how and those without.• Demonstrated capability in implementing synchronized cloud platform roadmaps.• Acknowledged expertise in the operation of LLM models.• Those with a background in DevOps and experience in ML/AI engineering will be favored.The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $190,000 - $260,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
