Are you someone with the following:
  • A graduate degree in the customs law field
  • 5 to 10 years professional experience related to international trade and custom compliance
  • advanced level in freight forwarding
  • Technical competencies in duty drawback, Customs and trade compliance; Import or export compliance; Free trade agreements; Economic sanctions required
  • Rigorous, reactive, team oriented, self-starter, commercially minded, receptive to change with excellent communicative skills

Your missions as a Customs Compliance Officer include:
  • Serve as the company’s global subject matter expert on import/export/duty drawback and all matters related to global trade.
  • Pro-actively identify potential import/export compliance risks, recommend, and develop corrective measures. Adjust business practices and implement process change as necessary.
  • The jobholder will serve as the focal point for U.S. customs entries ensuring that all imports/exports are assigned the appropriate HTSUS codes, data is reported accurately, and all appropriate duties, taxes and fees are paid in compliance with trade regulations.
  • Establish post-entry and post-export review procedures and conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance.
  • Develop regional knowledge of Global Free Trade Agreements (FTA’s) and the ability to use FTA's for the benefit of the company across geographic locations.
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and adjust internal compliance controls as necessary to ensure Best Practices are in effect.
  • Manage, direct, and evaluate the performance of customs brokers and other customs related service providers.
  • Periodically conduct training sessions for company personnel on applicable Customs & Boarder Protection regulations and Trade compliance (sanctions/boycotts).
  • Support Contracts Coordination (ATMI Legal) on supplier agreements regarding customs and free trade matters and contract work.
Dimensions
Primary focus is on customs compliance in the United States, U.S. Territories, Canada and Mexico. The jobholder is the main contact with Customs and Border Patrol in the conduct of importation, exportation and drawback activities in the United States. The jobholder is also a liaison in trade compliance issues and OFAC SDN transaction screening.

Purposes
Ensure compliance of the import/export/duty drawback processes with all internal company rules and all applicable laws/regulations. Ensure a professional interaction with internal stakeholders at all levels in addition with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. The jobholder is autonomous in his/her decision making and has the entire responsibility of regulatory activities.

Ability to work with limited direct supervision. Handle and resolve potential conflicts between the Group and third parties (customers, suppliers, govt. entities). Ability to anticipate and mitigate compliance risks and take initiative in proposing alternative solutions to issues.
