Senior Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer

d-Matrix has fundamentally changed the physics of memory-compute integration with our digital in-memory compute (DIMC) engine. The “holy grail” of AI compute has been to break through the memory wall to minimize data movements. We’ve achieved this with a first-of-its-kind DIMC engine. Having secured over $154M, $110M in our Series B offering, d-Matrix is poised to advance Large Language Models to scale Generative inference acceleration with our chiplets and In-Memory compute approach. We are on track to deliver our first commercial product in 2024. We are poised to meet the energy and performance demands of these Large Language Models. The company has 100+ employees across Silicon Valley, Sydney and Bengaluru.

Senior Unix/Linux Infrastructure Engineer

What You Will Bring:

Core Technical Skills

1. Operating Systems:

• Expert-level knowledge of Unix/Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE).

• Strong understanding of kernel-level operations, including configuration, tuning, and patching.

2. Filesystems and Storage:

• In-depth knowledge of filesystems (e.g., ext4, xfs, ZFS, Btrfs).

• Experience with networked filesystems (e.g., NFS, GlusterFS).

• Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID, LVM).

3. Networking:

• Advanced knowledge of network configuration, routing, VLANs, and firewalls.

• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.

• Experience with network troubleshooting tools (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark).

4. Automation and Scripting:

• Proficiency in automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

• Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and maintenance.

5. Virtualization and Cloud:

• Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., Proxmox, KVM, Xen).

• Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, Google Cloud).

6. System Design and Architecture:

• Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable Unix/Linux infrastructure.

• Strong understanding of high-availability systems and clustering.

• Expertise in system performance tuning and optimization.

7. Security:

• Knowledge of Unix/Linux security best practices.

• Experience with SELinux, AppArmor, firewalld, and auditing tools.

• Familiarity with encryption, PKI, and vulnerability management tools.

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and root-cause analysis.

• Collaboration: Experience working with cross-functional teams and engineering.

• Communication: Clear documentation and verbal explanation of system designs and procedures.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

• 5–10 years of experience in Unix/Linux systems engineering or administration.

Optional/Desirable Skills

• Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines).

• Familiarity with distributed systems (e.g., Hadoop, Cassandra).
