Description

The Demand Planner will report to the Director of Inventory Planning. The Director of Inventory Planning is responsible managing the promotional and replenishment forecasts and finalizing demand on a regular basis in an E-commerce environment. The Demand Planner will use Excel and applicable software applications to create and publish forecasts on a regular basis. This position will require excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as advanced math and MS Excel skills. Position is fast paced, handling many day to day problems while also leading the teams to meet tight deadlines.


Core functions

  • Propose and implement solutions to improve demand forecast accuracy. Target at 80% accuracy on period lag 1
  • Create and maintain demand forecast models for statistical sales forecasts, conduct weekly & monthly forecast maintenance – Daily summarization of demand forecasts by category and send once a week to Costco sales and E-commerce group, Use spreadsheets first and then actively use supply chain planning software to routinely update demand on a regular basis (at least weekly)
  • At the direction of demand planning manager, provide demand planning input and forecast to appropriate sales teams for review – Analyzing weekly data and showing in demand review meeting to sales teams & supply chain teams, Accurate analysis of 100% demand and statistical forecast in system every week
  • Monitor and report on important changes in sales forecasts, budgets, and business strategies, update in models – Weekly updates
  • Successfully communicate forecast and future inventory estimations to management – Weekly updates to manager, director & VP
  • Address demand related issues in a timely and effective manner – Every week reports on exceptions to sales, create order plans daily & send to procurement
  • Monitor brand, SKU, and account level forecasts to achieve forecast accuracy objectives – Create discontinued lists & Excess inventory lists and communicate weekly to sales (once a week) & continue weekly process, Use Power BI tools and Sales Pad System regular basis


Responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Identify and report on forecast accuracy measures by customer, business segment, SKU
  • Develop list of slow-moving and obsolete items in demand by customer, category, and SKU
  • Create and maintain reports with reliable/high accuracy information
  • Extrapolate large volumes of data, summarize it, and communicate findings simply and concisely
  • Work collaboratively across organization with Supply Chain Planning, Purchasing, Sales, Supplier Management and Logistics
  • Participate in Demand Review meeting with sales and communicate aggregated demand with sales intelligence


Desired qualification and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields, strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Demand Planning / Forecasting role.
  • Ability to make assumptions and defend them.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert level in MS Office programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Experience with any demand planning and supply planning software application is a plus.
