Director of Commissioning Job Description
The Commissioning Director is responsible for the managerial leadership and direction of the Commissioning department including business initiatives, client development and project management. This position will manage project teams throughout the commissioning process, adapting commissioning plans to budget constraints, design factors or client needs. The Commissioning Director will lead the department in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Gamechange Solar’s core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service. The Commissioning Director will report to Vice President of Field Operations.
Director of Commissioning Job Description Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managerial direction and development of the Commissioning Department in support of Gamechange Solar’s superior customer service.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain outstanding employee-owners.
- Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department or direct reports.
- Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to staff.
- Serves as the technical advisor, provide senior-level input and evaluation on projects.
- Determine program objectives and requirements, organizes projects and develops standards and guidelines.
- Manage billability and profitability of staff and projects and coordinate efforts with respective leaders.
- Responsible for attaining the department’s financial goals and objectives.
- Develop and refine methodologies, tools, and standards for an evolving commissioning practice. Responsible for staying current in relevant industry developments and technology advancements.
- Manage the review of designs, equipment submittals, O&M manuals, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs for overall compliance with the owner’s requirements and commissioning plans.
- Manage commissioning site visits, evaluation of new and existing systems, witness of equipment start-up, direction and performance of testing.
- Manage the development and implementation of methodologies, tools, and standard in support of an evolving commissioning practice.
- Manage relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers and contractors to develop business.
- Coach and mentor sales pursuits and proposal development to obtain work.
- Facilitate pursuit strategy, capture plan development, go/no-go decision making.
- Lead or facilitate proposal development, based on client feedback and key win themes for project pursuits.
- Lead contract and negotiation process for projects after selection
- Adheres and responsible for Gamechange Solar’s Commissioning team Control program.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Responsible for diversity initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.

Salary: $110k - $140k
