Primary Job Duties:

• Track crew locations and ongoing work on the distribution system.

• Dispatch service personnel to respond to outage calls and emergency situations, such as 911/SWAT calls

• Authorize the energizing and restoration of distribution facilities

• Maintain accurate outage records as well as records of abnormal and defective equipment for distribution facilities

• Effectively operate company communication equipment

• Be knowledgeable of and consistently adhere to policies and procedures, both companywide and those specific to AEP Ohio Distribution Dispatch

• Promote and enforce AEP's Safety & Health programs

• Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support AEP's Corporate Compliance Policy

• Bachelor’s degree in any field,
• OR Associate’s degree in electrical or electronic technology,
• OR High School Diploma with 2 years of experience with technical customer support and service, including successful multi-tasking and handling of multiple programs/screens. (Dispatcher Intermediate an additional 2 years experience needed, Dispatcher Sr. an additional 4 years experience needed)

Other Requirements – Additional Information:

• Successful completion of System Operator/Power Dispatching (SO/PD) test is required.

• Availability for rotating shift work required, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must also maintain availability for emergency callout response.
• Must be able to work under pressure during periods of critical system conditions and deal with diverse situations simultaneously.
