Job Overview:
We are seeking a Programmer Analyst 6 - Front End Engineer to provide ongoing maintenance and support for the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). This critical role involves enhancing the stability and functionality of MDSS, particularly focusing on the modernized systems from phase 1. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in NextJS, ReactJS, and AWS cloud services, with a strong background in healthcare IT systems.

• Maintain and enhance the MDSS by ensuring automated processes are functioning and streamlining critical business processes.
• Develop and support technical solutions that comply with healthcare standards such as HIPAA and FDA.
• Lead the technical team, providing guidance and expertise in front-end and cloud-based technologies.
• Design and implement visually appealing, responsive, and user-friendly web interfaces using modern technologies such as NextJS, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Utilize AWS services like EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway to build scalable and secure cloud-based applications.
• Oversee the integration and deployment of new software solutions, ensuring compliance with SEM/SUITE standards.
• Collaborate closely with back-end teams to ensure seamless integration and data communication.
• Mentor other developers, enhancing team skills and overall project outcomes.
• Engage in full software development life cycle activities, including requirement gathering, development, testing, and deployment.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of overall IT experience, with a significant focus on software development.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with NextJS, ReactJS, and/or JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• 8+ years of experience with AWS cloud-based application development.
• Extensive experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of creating and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in healthcare IT systems, particularly related to communicable disease surveillance.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as HIPAA, HITECH, and FDA.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and projects in a regulated environment.
