About the Role:
The Senior Director of Software Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the technical vision, strategy, and execution across the engineering organization. Reporting to the CTO, this leader will oversee fully remote and global engineering teams responsible for the delivery and maintenance of multiple product lines with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security. This individual will work closely with cross-functional leaders, including Product, Operations, and Customer Success, to align engineering goals with business objectives and ensure a high level of execution. Your Responsibilities:
Define and implement the engineering vision, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives and healthcare compliance requirements.
Translate business strategies into actionable engineering roadmaps and oversee their execution.
Mentor, guide, and grow a team of engineering managers, and technical leads, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Define and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) and manage budgets to ensure alignment with team goals and optimize operational efficiency.
Establish and refine engineering best practices, ensuring code quality, testing, and documentation are in line with industry standards.
Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team, with a focus on AI capabilities, through recruitment, training, and career development programs.
Foster a unified engineering culture that bridges onshore and offshore resources, ensuring consistency in code quality, security practices, and adherence to company standards.
Implement performance management processes to support skill development, address performance gaps, and recognize outstanding contributions.
Provide technical leadership in AI, troubleshoot critical issues, and remove roadblocks as needed.
Foster a unified engineering culture that bridges onshore and offshore resources, ensuring consistency in code quality, security practices, and AI ethical standards.
Collaborate with the CTO and Product team to prioritize features, enhancements, and product iterations, balancing business goals with technical feasibility and resource constraints.
Work closely with DevOps and Security teams to build secure, reliable systems that adhere to healthcare regulations.
Serve as a key interface between the engineering team and other departments, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and timelines.
Present engineering progress, initiatives, and insights to senior leadership and the executive team, as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
12+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing large teams and complex projects.
Proven leadership skills with a history of managing and scaling high-performing engineering teams, fostering a proactive culture, and championing an automation-driven approach to enhance efficiency and innovation.
Proven experience in navigating complex, undefined challenges within a high-growth environment.
Deep understanding of software development life cycles, agile methodologies, and continuous delivery practices.
Strong knowledge of industry trends, emerging AI technologies, and competitive landscapes to anticipate shifts and keep the company’s AI initiatives at the forefront.
Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, microservices, and healthcare data security regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST).
Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence at all levels of an organization.
