Position Overview

Element is looking for a DevOps Engineer with an unwavering passion for working in autonomous, self-directed teams to build complex systems using lean, agile mindsets—this means delivering incremental business value with each sprint and enabling options at all scales. For this project, you and your team will be operating and enhancing an enterprise platform to effectively consume and use the data to improve the healthcare experience of millions of Americans. You'll be part of a multi-disciplinary, agile application development team tasked with operating and enhancing an enterprise government system. The project work is primarily remote but may require some client on-site work estimated at <10%.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform migration of infrastructure from one AWS environment to another.
  • Working with other DevSecOps Engineers, Full Stack Software Engineers, Data Engineers and Data Analysts, strive to build and maintain infrastructure solution that is 100% automation of operations.
  • Mobbing and pairing with your team to design, code, test, debug, deploy and document software in an agile environment.
  • Tackle a wide variety of technical problems.
  • Exercise your full tool-belt of skills and experience.


Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of application development experience.
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills.
  • A passion for learning new technologies and the ability to do so quickly.
  • Ability to write high-quality code efficiently.
  • Strong core Linux networking, shell scripting, and administration skills.
  • Experienced in automation using infrastructure-as-code (IAC) with AWS CDK, Terraform, and/or CloudFormation - AWS CDK preferred.
  • Working experience with container technology such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Bias towards build & pipeline automation, proactive monitoring and shifting testing and security left with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Packer, CloudBees Jenkins, Nexus, Splunk, SonarQube, NewRelic, Nessus.
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure security and IAM privilege management.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure components such as EC2, ECS, ECR, EKS, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, EMR, KMS, CloudFormation, Route53, Scaling Groups, etc.
  • Experience in security aspects of cloud infrastructure, vulnerability scanning and remediation, threat modeling and detection, static and dynamic testing, and security documentation.
  • Experience with automated unit testing, end to end testing, smoke tests striving for 100% automated test coverage
  • Experience with application logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Experience within CMS is a plus.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
  • Must reside in the Continental US.
  • Depending on government agency, specific requirements may include public trust background check or security clearance.


$100,000 - $150,000 a year
The likely salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
