Employee Relations Consultant

Employee Relations provides comprehensive legal and strategic employee relations advice and support to a workforce of approximately 4,000 employees across Macquarie's businesses in the Americas (U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Chile.

This will include and not be limited to

  • Counseling on a wide range of employment-related matters, including negotiating employment terms for new hires, overseeing the performance management process, and advising on terminations, reductions-in-force, and business restructures
  • overseeing litigation matters handled by outside counsel and legal risk management in matters raising potential litigation concerns
  • overseeing compliance with applicable labor and employment laws and regularly monitoring relevant jurisdictions for material legal updates
  • conducting employment policy research and drafting to ensure compliance with all applicable employment-related laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • collaborating with a global team based in ANZ, with regional teams in EMEA and Asia, on a range of issues to ensure consistency, where possible, and leverage each other’s experiences as part of a coordinated global organization
  • partnering with the Benefits Team to manage disability claims as they impact ongoing employment and the Rewards Team on executive compensation issues
  • advising on employment related matters arising from mergers & acquisitions, including how to address differences between the employment terms of the acquiring and acquired companies
  • providing advisory services to subsidiary entities.

This role supports senior management and professional employees in the Americas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising management with respect to relevant HR practices and employment risks
  • ability to keep pace with evolving stakeholder needs for ER support, including providing real-time advice on developing court and legislative action that may impact employee rights and expectations
  • providing advice on practical people management and employment related issues (e.g. restructuring, conduct issues, performance management)
  • managing employment issues related to transactions
  • drafting, interpreting and implementing HR policies in line with Macquarie practices; ensuring policies are compliant with relevant legislation
  • managing a semi-annual regulatory review process where any relevant legal developments are identified and Macquarie’s compliance is verified
  • collecting and delivering key metrics, including case and consequence management metrics
  • coordinating employee relations training and ensuring regional compliance
  • vverseeing investigatory work relating to harassment and discrimination claims

If you have a JD. or equivalent; as well as 7 years + of employment law and litigation experience, preferred with practical knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws in the U.S. required

Salary

Salary range for this position: $155,000 - 210,000/Year. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. You may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
