Geospatial and Market Analysis Intern

Encore is currently seeking a highly motivated undergraduate or graduate student with the skills, experience, and aptitude to serve as a Geospatial Analysis Intern. The successful candidate will work with our Business Development Team in support of the firm’s rapidly growing renewable energy prospecting, site identification, and early stage project feasibility analyses.


The Geospatial and Market Analysis Intern will be responsible for a majority of the GIS and environmental analysis components of Encore’s day-to-day and campaign driven site prospecting efforts. This is a technical, skills-based position requiring both familiarity with the below listed software, as well as a creative problem-solving ability to find solutions to complex situations. The Geospatial Analysis Intern will report to the Project and Business Development Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct local, regional, and nationwide GIS-based site analysis campaigns to identify parcels of land ideal for large scale solar development. 
  • Prepare mass outreach campaigns to target landowners in order to maximize response rates. 
  • Critically analyze different project variables on a mass scale. 
  • Review and record land records from various forms of data including: online records, town records, and in person town offices. 
  • Aid with day-to-day business development activities as needed such as CRM management, policy research, call screening, and initial site assessment. 
  • Lead inbound and outbound calls to leads to set up internal consultations 
  • Utilize software including Anderson Optimization, LandGate, Transect and PlantPredict to screen sites, run CIA reports, and design conceptual site plans.


Experience & Skills:
  • Coursework related to: geography, urban/regional planning, economics, community/international development, environmental science/studies, finance, engineering, or mathematics. 
  • Experience working with ArcGIS, ESRI, Google Earth Pro, Excel, or other related GIS intensive software. 
  • Diligent, detailed oriented, and dynamic. 
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to self-organize priorities, set and work to deadlines, often with limited direct oversight.
  • Passion for renewable energy or environmental issues, preferred.
