Primary Purpose
SoCalGas is offering exciting new opportunities for hands-on training with skilled professionals. Student internships provide developmental opportunities for the right candidates, to put theory into practice and gain valuable work experience that is personally and professionally rewarding. Current enrollment in an engineering program as an undergraduate or graduate in a 4-year college or university. This is a year-round part time position and requires reliable transportation.
This internship will focus on analysis for live hydrogen blending demonstration projects. This internship will gather and analyze data to inform necessary parameters and impacts of hydrogen blending demonstration projects. This internship will involve review of various research reports across the industry to inform best practices on Hydrogen blending industries. Also, this internship will support regulatory applications and proceedings filed with the California Public Utility Commission.
$22.35 - $38.35 / hour
Education
- Sophomore/Junior, Senior or Master's student with at least two semesters or quarters before graduation.
- Full-time student in a College or University Engineering program, in the chemical or mechanical engineering disciplines preferred.
- A 3.0 Cumulative GPA or above is required and maintain the 3.0 throughout the internship.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of energy or properties of natural gas and hydrogen is preferred.
- Solid understanding of fluid flow, thermal dynamics, piping systems and computer applications preferable.
- Must be able to analyze significant amounts of data and develop multiple options and scenarios in reaching decisions.
- Must be able to manage and implement multiple projects and to coordinate assigned activities and individual projects.
- Knowledge of project management software tools, PC operations, spreadsheets, CAD, mainframe, networks, and MS Office preferable.
- Must clearly and concisely communicate technical information and concepts in formal and informal settings with other departments in the company.
- Strong communications skills. This position requires constant communication with people of various levels of work experience; must be willing to learn from others, be self-motivated to perform tasks that are simple or complex.
Other Qualifications
- Be able to work 16-24 hours per week on a year-round basis, with a flexible work schedule.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.
- This is a year-round, part-time position and requires reliable transportation.
