General Construction Estimator

About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Construction Estimator to join our team. General Construction Estimator is a critical role at Ernest that operates remotely and works across all markets. Estimators at Ernest are proven leaders who will work alongside the lead estimator and play a critical role in our growth by managing the bidding of timely, accurate and comprehensive plumbing estimates for multifamily, commercial, industrial, and federal projects.

What You'll Do

  • Accurately review and analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents.

  • Prepare detailed proposals, submittals, and RFIs/RFOs.

  • Obtain and evaluate material and subcontractor pricing for completeness.

  • Utilize estimating software and intermediate Excel skills for accurate estimates.

  • Conduct off site visits to assess proposed sites and collaborate with contractors.

  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.

  • Ensure timely bid submissions and meet set bid volume and sales goals.

  • Present estimates to management and participate in bid and contract review meetings.

  • Organize and manage multiple estimates and project documents efficiently.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an framing/drywall estimator, preferably with a focus on framing projects.

  • Strong understanding of Division 1-12, materials, and construction techniques.

  • Proficiency in estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Quickbid, STACK, etc.. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

  • Certification in estimating (e.g., AACE, ASPE) is a plus.
