Laboratory Assistant 1

Title: Laboratory Assistant 1 Location: Research Triangle Park, NC - 27709... Duration: 5-6 Months Contract Pay Rate: $20.00 - $21.00/hr on w2 Must Experience Include • Experience in PCR (1-2 years), • Bacterial Transformation (1-2 years), • Experience working in a greenhouse. • Must have a bachelor’s degree with a focus in science. • Research experience preferred. • Must be a team player and able to collaborate with other members of the lab. Job Description • Performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment. • Records observations and measurements and reports results. • Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. • Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. • Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. • Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Production • Supervise and coordinate on the manufacturing of active ingredients and intermediates into raw materials including guiding and assisting more junior employees. • Operate and troubleshoot escalated issues for various formulating equipment. • Perform routine and non-routine operations safely and efficiently. • Execute all phases of crop protection or seed production for e.g., small-seeded vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, squash, to ensure a high quality, reliable, and timely supply is delivered to the facility. • Coordinate third party cleaning vendors, off-site inventory management and communication of scheduling, priorities and shipping needs between stakeholders, and work with specialists to test/implement new production concepts. Skills • Greenhouse experience preferred • Ability to perform all physical duties required in greenhouse operations under adverse conditions • Demonstrated ability and motivation to work in unsupervised situations • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Commitment and adherence to excellent stewardship practices • Ability to use MS office software and other databases efficiently Education • Bachelor's degree heavily preferred; will consider a two year in science if candidate has prior research experience Required Skills • PCR, LABORATORY, OPERATIONS, CHEMISTRY, PLANT MAINTENANCE, BIOASSAYS, DATA COLLECTION, SAMPLING, SORTING
