Position Overview

Summary: Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies, Texas, Inc. is offering exciting summer internships for college students who have completed at least their sophomore year. We provide a supportive and collaborative teaching environment to help interns develop their skills and pinpoint their career goals. This opportunity offers invaluable experience with an industry-leading biopharmaceutical contract development manufacturing organization. Interns will work under the guidance of a department manager on a project focused on enhancing current processes and improving efficiency. Internships typically run from mid-May to August, with specific dates determined collaboratively between the intern, their supervisor, and Human Resources. 

 

The key objective of this internship is to support the QC Microbiology Department in daily functions related to environmental monitoring, utilities monitoring, and product testing.

 

Start Date: This internship is set to begin on May 19th, 2025 for an 11-week duration ending on August 8th 2025. 

  

Relocation: Please note this Internship Opportunity is designed to be 100% Onsite, 40 hours/week and a relocation/housing stipend is not provided.

Job Description

 

Essential Functions (will vary based on departmental need): 

  • Assist with Environmental Monitoring.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the department.
  • Assist in developing strategies to enhance the efficiency of microbiological operations, focusing on streamlining workflows and reducing turnaround times.
  • Prepare detailed reports on monitoring and testing activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

 

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • Understanding of basic microbiology and biotechnology principles, with the ability to apply these concepts in quality control processes.

  • Strong analytical abilities for interpreting data from environmental and product testing, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in sample collection, testing, and documentation.

  • Capability to identify issues and propose solutions to optimize departmental processes and efficiency.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with QC Management and Analysts, and to document findings and recommendations.

  • Ability to work well within a team, supporting colleagues and engaging in joint efforts to advance laboratory objectives.

  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards related to biotech QC, ensuring adherence in all activities.

  • Competence in using laboratory equipment and conducting testing procedures safely and effectively.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to quickly grasp new procedures and technologies.

  • Proficiency in basic computer programs used for data entry, analysis, and report creation.

  • Experience at any time prolonged sitting, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. 
  • Use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is required. 
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.  
  • Attendance is mandatory. 
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE. 

Qualifications: 

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program, preferably in Microbiology, Life Sciences, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in Quality Control. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Some knowledge of biotech/biopharma is preferred.
