Java Software Engineer | Garmin Connect

Currently we have an opening for the following project:

Garmin Connect : Our team develops software solutions for Garmin Connect, which is the platform for tracking and analyzing health and fitness data gathered from all our devices. The Connect ecosystem relies on complex technical solutions with multiple microservices that work together to process, categorize and leverage all the information provided by activity trackers, running watches, golf monitors, smart scales, etc.

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a hybrid role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require at least 3 days in the office each week.

Joining this team, you will:

  • Develop software in Java for Garmin products and/or applications consistently following Garmin’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes.
  • Utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process.
  • Create and execute designs for small sets of new functionalities as part of a software project.
  • Collaborate and add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Java and OOP principles.
  • Proficiency experience in designing, enhancing and developing complex Java microservices (Spring Boot) or cloud-native applications.
  • Strong understanding of Spring Framework.
  • Good knowledge of web services (REST).
  • Knowledgeable about relational or non-relational databases.
  • Good knowledge of unit testing.
  • Good understanding of design patterns.
  • Good usage skills of development tools (source control, development environment, issue tracking).
  • Good knowledge of building tools and continuous delivery.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • Team player.

Would be a plus, if you:

  • Have experience with HBase.
  • Familiar with RabbitMQ / Kafka / Elasticsearch
