We are seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to join our team supporting the Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
Develop high quality detailed design packages.
Provide engineering procurement and field technical support to implement designs.
Prepare conceptual engineering deliverables such as cost-estimating bills of material and man-hour estimates, statements of work, design criteria, and title II engineering deliverables.
Provide expertise for troubleshooting and technical assessments of plant systems
Prepare calculations and analyses, construction specifications & drawings, and equipment specifications.
Routinely provide input to System Engineers and other plant customers.
Perform walk-downs in the existing plant facilities to generate design documents.
Provide field support to craft personnel.
Perform chemical design engineering support including participation in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs.
Develop flowsheets (block diagrams, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs), analyses and calculations, reports/studies, SSC grading, and SDD preparation.
Assist with equipment sizing and arrangements, cost estimates, procurement document preparation, and testing support.
If needed, support safety basis documentation and evaluation.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 10+ years of relevant experience
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance
Must effectively and cooperatively work as a team member of an integrated project team, or as a technical lead for a multi-discipline task.
Experience with P&ID, PFD development, and system requirement development is preferred.
